Manchester / 110N On-Ramp, South Los Angeles – In the early hours of August 11, 2024, a dramatic incident unfolded on the Manchester Avenue on-ramp to the 110 North Freeway in South Los Angeles. The situation, which involved a car crash, a gun threat, and multiple arrests, led to a heavy police presence at the scene.
At approximately 12:00 a.m., a female passenger in one vehicle reported that a sedan in front of them suddenly brake-checked their car, causing her friend, the driver, to crash into the back of the sedan. The aftermath quickly escalated when the passenger of the sedan allegedly exited the vehicle and threatened the women with a gun.
Responding officers from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) arrived to find that the driver of the sedan was under the influence of alcohol. The situation intensified as the driver resisted arrest, prompting the LAPD to initiate a “HELP CALL,” a signal for additional units to respond urgently. During the arrest, the sedan’s passenger attempted to leave the scene with a backpack, but officers managed to recover the bag, though the man initially evaded capture.
However, the male suspect, who had walked away, later returned to the scene and was identified by the female passenger. LAPD swiftly apprehended him, leading to his arrest. A firearm was subsequently discovered inside the sedan, solidifying the gravity of the situation.
As a result, the driver of the sedan was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, while the passenger faces charges of assault and is under investigation for weapons violations. The female passenger and her friend were released without charges, leaving the scene with a story they won’t soon forget.
