San Bernardino, CA – A lethal force encounter early Saturday morning resulted in the death of 54-year-old Albert Park, a resident of San Bernardino, following a police pursuit.
On August 10, 2024, at approximately 1:12 a.m., deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Central Station attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a motorcycle near North Leroy Street and 23rd Street due to a vehicle code violation. The driver, later identified as Albert Park, refused to yield, prompting a pursuit.
The chase led deputies to the 2000 block of North Sierra Way, where Park abandoned the motorcycle and fled on foot to the porch of a nearby residence. Park was armed with a loaded handgun when deputies confronted him. During the encounter, a lethal force incident occurred, and Park was pronounced dead at the scene. Fortunately, no other injuries were reported.
The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division was called to the scene and has taken over the investigation. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the official cause of death. The investigation is still ongoing.
