WOODCREST, CA – A brush fire broke out on Thursday afternoon in a Woodcrest neighborhood, scorching over two acres of land and destroying an outbuilding before firefighters were able to contain the blaze.
The fire, dubbed the “Porter Fire,” was first reported at approximately 1:14 p.m. in the 16000 block of Porter Avenue, near Iris Avenue, according to the Riverside County Fire Department. Multiple engine crews from both the county and the Riverside Fire Department were dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, firefighters encountered flames advancing at a moderate pace toward nearby properties. Thanks to their swift action, the fire was prevented from reaching any residences, although an outbuilding located on the edge of one property was lost to the flames.
By 1:40 p.m., firefighters had stopped the forward spread of the fire, and full containment was achieved shortly after 2:00 p.m. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
