Lynwood, CA – August 1, 2024 – A devastating accident occurred early Thursday morning on the westbound lanes of Interstate 105 near the I-710 interchange in Lynwood.
At approximately 1:45 AM, CHP officers were alerted to the scene where a woman had been struck by a vehicle after exiting a black Mustang and running into the freeway lanes. Initial reports indicate that the woman had been involved in a roadside incident with her boyfriend, who had pulled over on the freeway.
Upon arrival, LA County firefighters found the woman unconscious and not breathing. They immediately began administering CPR in an attempt to revive her. Despite their efforts, LA County fire paramedics declared the woman deceased at the scene.
According to the boyfriend, the woman exited his car and ran into the freeway lanes, where she was subsequently struck by a gray Lexus sedan. Following the collision, the boyfriend managed to pull her back to the right shoulder and out of the travel lanes before authorities arrived.
The exact reasons behind the woman’s decision to run onto the freeway remain unclear. At least three lanes of the freeway have been blocked off as the CHP conducts an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The driver of the gray Lexus, who struck the woman, remained at the scene and is cooperating with authorities as the investigation continues.
