Phoenix, AZ – A tragic accident occurred on Sunday evening that claimed the life of a motorcyclist on the I-17 in Phoenix. The incident took place shortly after 9:00 PM in the southbound lanes just north of Indian School Road.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) responded to reports of a motorcyclist who had been struck by a vehicle after falling onto the interstate. Phoenix Fire Department personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced the motorcyclist deceased.
As a result of the crash, DPS troopers established a closure on the I-17 at Camelback Road to secure the area and begin their investigation. The I-17 southbound is expected to remain closed for several hours as troopers continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident or the two sports cars involved to come forward as the investigation remains ongoing.
