In a tragic incident on the evening of July 27th, a pedestrian was struck multiple times on the eastbound I-10 59th Avenue ramp in Phoenix. The accident, which occurred around 11:00 PM, led to the death of the victim.
According to reports, the victim was hit by several vehicles as they were on the ramp. Emergency crews from the Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZ DPS) and Phoenix Fire Department arrived at the scene shortly after the incident. Despite their efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Initial radio traffic indicated that multiple vehicles were involved in the collision. It remains unclear if any of the vehicles involved stopped following the accident, as only emergency vehicles were reported at the scene.
The incident prompted a significant response and led to a closure of the eastbound access road between 67th Avenue and 59th Avenue, as well as the 59th Avenue on-ramp. This closure lasted for several hours, causing significant delays for motorists in the area.
The DPS troopers and detectives have taken over the investigation into the incident. The scene was cleared around 3:30 AM, and normal traffic flow resumed.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal accident and have not yet released further details.
