Montebello, CA — On July 23, 2024, at approximately 9:57 PM, Montebello Police Department received a distress call regarding a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian at the intersection of West Whittier Boulevard and North Garfield Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers found an unresponsive male lying in the middle of Whittier Boulevard. Immediate CPR was administered by the police, who also requested the assistance of the Fire Department. Despite their rapid response and efforts to revive the victim, he was pronounced dead at the scene upon the Fire Department’s arrival.
The suspect, driving a white vehicle, fled the scene in an unknown direction. Montebello PD has initiated an investigation and is actively searching for the hit-and-run driver.
Due to the severity of the incident, Whittier Boulevard is currently closed between Garfield Avenue and Concourse Avenue. Authorities urge anyone with information regarding the collision or the suspect’s whereabouts to come forward and assist with the investigation.
