Ontario authorities are investigating a tragic vehicle versus pedestrian collision that resulted in a fatality and is suspected to be a hit and run.
Emergency responders were dispatched around 11 PM to a report of a pedestrian down in the middle of the road, not breathing. Upon arrival, they confirmed the victim was deceased at the scene.
A semi-truck, which was parked directly in front of the victim, was not involved in the incident. The truck driver, who chose not to speak on camera, reported finding the victim alone in the street and took action by blocking traffic to prevent further harm. The driver expressed a sense of duty to help and stayed at the scene to assist until law enforcement arrived.
Currently, law enforcement is conducting a thorough investigation. Officers were observed searching nearby parking lots, though the specifics of their search remain undisclosed. Additionally, a vehicle with its hazard lights on was seen parked down the street, but it is unclear whether it is connected to the incident or if it belongs to a witness.
Authorities have not yet released additional details and are expected to continue their investigation throughout the night. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
