On the afternoon of July 15, 2024, Pierce County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a situation involving a man in a vehicle in the Graham area. The incident began when deputies attempted to contact the suspect, who was in the vehicle. Upon their approach, the suspect fled the scene and struck one officer, causing minor injuries.
The officers pursued the suspect eastbound on 260th Street. At the intersection of 70th Street and 260th Street, the suspect stopped the vehicle and attempted to escape on foot towards a nearby residence. During the attempted escape, a shootout ensued between the suspect and law enforcement.
The exchange of gunfire resulted in the suspect being shot and killed at the scene. Fortunately, no officers were injured in the confrontation. The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department is continuing its investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
