San Diego, CA – July 14, 2024 – Early this morning, a dramatic crash on southbound Interstate 15 near Miramar Way disrupted traffic and led to a significant emergency response.
At approximately 3:32 a.m., a Ford Mustang veered off course, slamming into the center divider wall and coming to rest in the middle of the freeway’s traffic lanes. The impact caused the Mustang to catch fire in the engine compartment.
As a result of the crash, up to eight other vehicles collided with the debris, sustaining varying degrees of damage. Fortunately, thanks to the quick actions of Good Samaritans, the driver of the burning Mustang was rescued from the wreckage.
The driver was swiftly transported to a local hospital. Fortunately, no other individuals were reported injured in the incident.
To manage the situation and clear the debris, southbound traffic on I-15 was halted until 4:05 a.m. during which time multiple vehicles were towed from the scene. Authorities suspect that driving under the influence may have played a role in the crash.
The freeway has since been reopened, but motorists are advised to remain cautious as cleanup efforts continue.
