Anaheim, CA – On Thursday night, at approximately 8:45 PM, paramedics and other units from Anaheim Fire and Rescue were dispatched to the 1700 block of South Dallas Drive. They arrived at the scene to find an adult male suffering from severe burns to his face. The man was quickly transported to the UCI Medical Center Burn Unit in critical condition.
According to a witness, the incident occurred while the man was attempting to light a mortar firework. The witness explained that the victim had lit the fuse, but the firework failed to go off. Concerned, the man approached the device and looked down the tube to inspect it. At that moment, the firework ignited, causing a violent explosion that resulted in the man falling backward and hitting his head on the pavement.
Authorities are investigating the incident and urging the public to exercise caution when handling fireworks. Fireworks can be extremely dangerous, and it is critical to follow safety guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries.
