In a tragic event late on the night of July 4th, a 10-year-old child was fatally struck by a vehicle while riding a bicycle in the intersection of Windy Stone and Concord Green in Katy. Responders from CY-Fair FD and Harris County Constable Precinct 4 arrived swiftly to the scene, finding the child down in the intersection.
According to witnesses, the driver of the vehicle fled on foot, abandoning the car with the bicycle still trapped underneath it. The abandoned vehicle and bicycle were later found at the intersection of Greenhouse and Keith Harrow.
The child was critically injured and was airlifted to a nearby trauma center via LifeFlight. Despite the best efforts of medical professionals, the child sadly succumbed to his injuries.
Authorities are currently canvassing the area, seeking out cameras and potential witnesses to piece together the events that led to this heartbreaking incident. It is believed that there may be crucial camera evidence from neighboring businesses at the point where the suspect dislodged the vehicle on Keith Harrow.
At this time, it remains unclear why the child was out so late and whether he was under adult supervision. Investigations are ongoing as the community mourns this devastating loss.
