San Diego, CA – March 29, 2025 – 12:28 a.m. – A tragic crash overnight claimed the lives of two people after their vehicle flew off a freeway overpass and landed on its roof in the westbound lanes of Highway 94, just west of Home Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the vehicle attempted to transition from eastbound Hwy 94 to northbound SR-15 when the driver lost control. The car went airborne off the overpass, striking a large freeway sign before plummeting to the roadway below.
When emergency crews arrived, they found the vehicle upside down with its flattened roof. Both occupants—a male and a female—were pronounced dead at the scene.
All westbound lanes of Hwy 94 were shut down from I-805 under a SIG Alert and reopened at approximately 3:50 a.m. Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash, including whether speed or impairment were contributing factors.
