San Diego, CA – March 29, 2025 – 1:28 a.m. – A 36-year-old man was killed early Saturday morning in a hit-and-run crash while riding an electric bicycle on Balboa Avenue, just west of I-805. An ambulance crew passing through the area discovered the man lying unresponsive in the roadway and immediately began providing aid. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. According to the San Diego Police Department, the victim was riding westbound in the bike lane in the 6900 block of Balboa Ave when he veered left into traffic. A vehicle traveling in the number two lane struck the bicyclist and then fled the scene without stopping to render aid.SDPD’s Traffic Division is investigating the incident and has released an updated description of the suspect vehicle. It is believed to be a light-colored (possibly gray) 2016–2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class sedan with front-end damage and missing grille/body panels as a result of the collision.
