South Los Angeles, CA – March 26, 2025 – A barricade situation in the Vermont-Slauson neighborhood ended early Thursday morning with Los Angeles police officers shooting an armed suspect.
The incident began around 8:45 PM on Wednesday when officers from LAPD’s 77th Division responded to reports of a man pointing a rifle at passersby near Figueroa Street and 64th Street.
Upon arrival, the suspect refused to comply with commands and barricaded himself in a second-floor apartment. SWAT officers were called to the scene, and after hours of negotiation, officers shot the suspect during an undisclosed confrontation.
The suspect was taken into custody after 1:30 AM Thursday and transported to a hospital, where he remains in stable condition. No officers were injured during the standoff.
