San Diego County, CA – February 23, 2025 – A late-night police pursuit spanning multiple cities ended with the arrest of three suspects after an hour-long chase that reached speeds of over 100 mph.
At approximately 1:25 AM, an El Cajon Police Department officer spotted a reported stolen Hyundai occupied by three males. When officers attempted a traffic stop, the driver sped away, initiating a dangerous high-speed chase that stretched from El Cajon south to Chula Vista, then turned north through San Diego and eastward.
Due to the reckless nature of the pursuit, officers backed off while the San Diego Sheriff’s ASTREA helicopter tracked the suspects from the air. The chase continued through Spring Valley and into the Bonita area, where the vehicle began to slow near Morrison Pond County Park along Sweetwater Road. The suspects drifted into the oncoming lane before stopping on the shoulder.
Two passengers immediately fled on foot, while the driver was apprehended at gunpoint. A large-scale manhunt ensued, with ASTREA spotting the remaining suspects hiding in dense brush. Following callouts from the helicopter, both individuals surrendered without further incident.
