The incident occurred on February 18, 2025, at approximately 5:49 p.m. at the intersection of State Street and Gilman Springs Road, just east of Highway 79. According to Officer Jonathan Torres, 911 calls reported a male suspect throwing rocks at motorists. When officers arrived, they attempted verbal commands and non-lethal measures to subdue him, but the suspect continued advancing toward them while throwing rocks . At that point, an officer-involved shooting occurred. Authorities have not disclosed how many times the suspect was shot. Riverside County Fire Department paramedics arrived and attempted life-saving measures, but the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased has not been released.
