San Diego, CA – A stolen tow truck led law enforcement on an intense multi-city pursuit early Sunday morning before coming to a stop in San Diego.
The incident began just after midnight on February 2, 2025, when a tow truck driver from L.A. Tow was assisting with an AAA service call for a flat tire in Echo Park, Los Angeles. During the service, a male suspect jumped into the tow truck and took off.
The tow company employee was able to track the stolen vehicle, alerting law enforcement. The suspect led authorities on a high-speed chase, passing through Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, and other areas before heading south on the freeway.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) took over the pursuit as the tow truck continued southbound, deploying spike strips twice in an attempt to stop the vehicle. Eventually, at approximately 3:25 a.m., the suspect came to a halt at the Market Street exit on southbound I-805 in San Diego, with both front wheels destroyed.
