Houston Police Department (HPD) officers responded to an emergency on Buffalo Bayou, where rising waters trapped three individuals beneath the Smith Street overpass as the bayou overflowed its banks.
Houston Fire Department (HFD) was requested for assistance, and a swift water rescue operation was initiated. HFD deployed a boat into the rapidly rising waters and completed two trips to rescue the stranded individuals.
The three victims were safely brought to higher ground and are reported to be in stable condition. The swift response of both HPD and HFD ensured that the situation did not escalate further, and all individuals were rescued without injury.
