San Diego Cal Fire responded to a vegetation fire near the Southbound I-15 Freeway, north of SR-76, in the early hours of January 21st. Initial reports indicated a 5-acre fire spreading rapidly and threatening nearby structures.
The fire jumped Old Highway 395, prompting the need for additional firefighting resources. As of 2:10 AM, Cal Fire reported the blaze had grown to 30 acres but was spreading at a slower rate.
