Phoenix Police and Fire Department responded to an urgent call reporting a person trapped inside a Waste Management garbage truck early Wednesday morning. Upon arrival, officers heard a woman calling for help from within the truck’s rear compartment.
Phoenix firefighters quickly joined the rescue efforts, accessing the rear of the truck and meticulously digging through several hundred pounds of trash to locate the victim. The woman found buried under approximately 10 feet of debris, was swiftly stabilized and extricated from the truck.
She was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. Authorities are still investigating how long she had been inside the truck before being discovered.
