Fullerton, CA — On January 2, 2024, at approximately 2:09 PM, a small plane crashed through the roof of a commercial building at 2330 W Raymer Avenue, just east of Fullerton Airport. The incident resulted in two fatalities and 18 injuries, sparking a fire in the structure, which is believed to be a furniture warehouse.
Fullerton Police Department, along with Fullerton and Orange County Fire Authority crews, responded promptly to the scene and evacuated the building. Ten of the injured were transported to local hospitals, while the remaining were treated on-site for non-life-threatening injuries.
Reports indicate the aircraft was a homemade four-seater, identified by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as a single-engine Van’s Aircraft RV-10. When it crashed, the plane had taken off from Fullerton Airport and was returning to land.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), alongside the FAA, will investigate the cause of the crash. This incident follows a similar crash in November near the same airport, where another single-engine plane crashed, resulting in moderate injuries to two people aboard.
Authorities continue to assess the situation to ensure all individuals are accounted for and to determine the full extent of the damage.
