CATHEDRAL CITY, CA — In a devastating hit-and-run incident on Sunday night near Date Palm Drive and south of Varner Road, Enma Calbillo, a 48-year-old resident of Cathedral City, lost her life. The Riverside County Coroner has identified Calbillo as the victim of this tragic collision.
The crash occurred around 11:21 p.m. when a vehicle, allegedly operated by a 21-year-old man, made an unsafe turn onto the oncoming southbound lane. The collision involved two other cars, and Calbillo suffered fatal injuries.
Cathedral City police have reported that the 21-year-old man is suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or narcotics. The incident is currently under investigation, as authorities work to gather more details about the circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking event. The community mourns the loss of Enma Calbillo and awaits justice for this senseless hit-and-run tragedy.
