In the early hours of Friday, November 8, Phoenix police and emergency responders were alerted to a shooting incident involving two victims found inside a white sedan near 29th Avenue and McDowell Road. Phoenix Fire Department crews responded around 2:00 a.m. to the scene, where they discovered an adult male and female suffering from gunshot wounds inside a white Hyundai.
Both victims were immediately transported to a local trauma center. The female victim remains in critical condition, while the male sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. After speaking with the male victim, police learned that the shooting occurred at a residence near 4800 W. Granada Road. The victims attempted to drive themselves to a hospital but eventually stopped and called 911.
Officers arrived at the reported shooting location on W. Granada Road, where they set up a perimeter and approached the residence with shields and rifles to check for additional victims or suspects. Upon entry, they found several young children inside the home, all of whom were unharmed.
Through radio communication and on-scene conversations, officers received information indicating that the suspect had fled the scene and was spotted on I-10 near downtown Phoenix. Tactical Support Bureau units tracked the suspect eastbound on I-10, and the Department of Public Safety (DPS) was called to assist.
The chase led multiple law enforcement agencies, including DPS, Marana Police, the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office, and Phoenix Police, southward towards Tucson. As the pursuit continued, officers deployed spike strips just south of Marana, successfully deflating the suspect’s vehicle tires.
Around 3:30 a.m., the suspect’s vehicle was brought to a halt near West Burlingame Road and I-10 in Tucson through a PIT maneuver. Currently, the suspect remains barricaded inside the vehicle, refusing to comply with police commands. A standoff is ongoing as law enforcement personnel work to safely bring the situation to a resolution.
The incident has resulted in an extensive response from multiple agencies across Arizona, underscoring the severity of the situation and the efforts made to protect public safety. More details will follow as this story develops.
