[10-29-2024] Fatal Accident Shuts Down Thomas Road in Phoenix

On Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at approximately 7:30 p.m., a fatal motor vehicle accident occurred near the intersection of Thomas Road and 74th Avenue in Phoenix. Phoenix Police and Fire departments swiftly responded to the scene, where they found a heavily damaged dark-colored sedan and a white pickup truck involved in a severe collision. While the number of injured individuals remains uncertain, at least one person was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident led authorities to close both directions of Thomas Road, spanning from 74th Avenue to 71st Lane, for several hours. Phoenix Police’s vehicle crimes units arrived to document the scene and begin their investigation, working meticulously to determine the cause of the crash. After the police investigation concluded, the Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office arrived, with assistance from Phoenix Fire personnel, to remove the deceased individual from the site.

The road remained closed until approximately 12:15 a.m., when it was finally reopened to traffic. The investigation into the accident is ongoing, with authorities urging any witnesses to come forward with information that could shed light on the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.
