In the early hours of October 11, 2024, at approximately 2:20 AM, a traffic stop by a deputy in Moorpark quickly escalated into a high-speed chase. The incident began when the deputy attempted to pull over a vehicle near the 118 freeway and Collins Drive. Instead of stopping, the driver fled westbound on Campus Park Drive.
The pursuit came to a sudden halt when the fleeing vehicle, a 2023 Jeep rental, reached a dead-end in a residential neighborhood. The driver lost control, crashing into a parked car outside a home. Two suspects exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot.
One suspect, a female, sustained injuries in the crash and was promptly taken into custody. The second suspect, believed to be armed, managed to escape temporarily. However, thanks to the swift deployment of a UAV drone, authorities located the individual hiding in a nearby residence’s backyard and apprehended him.
Upon investigating the vehicle, deputies found ammunition on the front seat, raising further concerns about potential weapon possession. The case is still under investigation as authorities piece together the details of the suspects and their motives.
