On October 4, 2024, at approximately 3:42 p.m., a semi-truck collided with an overpass on the eastbound 60 Freeway at Indian Street in Moreno Valley, causing significant structural damage. The truck, which was transporting construction equipment, became lodged under the overpass, resulting in debris scattered across the road.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) from Riverside promptly responded to the scene, shutting down all eastbound traffic at Indian Street. A SIG alert was issued, and there is currently no estimated time for reopening the freeway.
Video footage from the scene shows the semi-truck trapped beneath the overpass, with construction equipment wedged against the structure. Debris is seen covering the road, further complicating cleanup efforts. Authorities have not provided an update on how long the closure will last, as crews assess the damage and work to safely remove the truck and equipment.
Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes and avoid the area until further notice. The investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing.
