In the early hours of September 14, 2024, at approximately 2:31 a.m., a block party at the intersection of Laura Koppe and Lockwood in Houston turned into a tragic scene of violence. The Houston Police Department responded to reports of a drive-by shooting at the gathering, which resulted in two fatalities and at least nine injuries.
Witnesses described a white truck driving by and firing multiple rounds into the crowd, sending partygoers scrambling for cover. Two young black males in their early 20s were pronounced dead at the scene, both with multiple gunshot wounds. The truck fled westbound on Laura Koppe toward Highway 59.
Of the nine individuals injured, some were struck by gunfire while others sustained injuries in the chaos that ensued. All victims were adults and were taken to local hospitals for treatment.
Investigators are working to gather evidence from the scene, including shell casings from two different firearms, indicating multiple shooters may have been involved. Authorities are also reviewing surveillance footage from nearby businesses in hopes of identifying the suspects.
