DUI Pursuit Leaves Trail of Crashes and Pedestrian Struck in South LA

Los Angeles, CA,08-28-2025 – On Thursday night, August 28, 2025, a reckless DUI pursuit that began with South Los Angeles Sheriff’s deputies turned into a chaotic chain of events that spanned multiple cities and freeways, leaving behind several damaged vehicles and one injured pedestrian. Deputies first attempted to stop a Hyundai Genesis G80 around 83rd Street and Figueroa Street, when the driver fled at high speeds. The suspect led law enforcement into Norwalk before returning to Los Angeles and exiting the 110 Freeway, with a LASD helicopter tracking overhead. The suspect crashed into another vehicle at the intersection, then quickly swapped into a new car and continued fleeing. No injuries were initially reported in that collision. As the pursuit moved toward the LAX area, LAPD units took over. At one point, a LAPD patrol car was involved in a crash, though no officers were hurt. Eventually, law enforcement lost sight of the suspect vehicle.
