Orange City, CA – August 27, 2025 – A fatal collision involving an Orange County Sheriff’s Department patrol vehicle and a pedestrian occurred Wednesday night at Chapman Avenue and South Prospect Avenue. Authorities report the pedestrian was struck by the deputy’s vehicle near an In-N-Out restaurant. The impact sent the victim onto the sidewalk, where Orange City Fire Department personnel later pronounced them deceased at the scene. The OCSD vehicle showed visible collision damage. The victim’s age and identity have not yet been released. The Orange Police Department has taken over the investigation to determine the circumstances leading up to the crash.
