South Los Angeles, CA – August 18, 2025 – Authorities are investigating a tragic incident Monday night after a person was discovered deceased on the sidewalk near Fig and 74th Street. The call came in around 9:45 p.m. Emergency responders located the victim unresponsive and confirmed their death at the scene. Scanner traffic indicated the possibility of a hit-and-run, with the victim reportedly thrown onto the sidewalk by the impact. Figueroa Street was closed in both directions while law enforcement worked to determine whether the death was caused by a traffic collision or another factor. The identity of the victim has not yet been released.
