JURUPA VALLEY,08-07-2025 — Around 5:00 p.m. Thursday, firefighters battled a vegetation fire along Granite Hill Drive between Camino Real and Pyrite Street. Crews worked to protect a nearby apartment complex as the blaze burned actively in the area. By 6:15 p.m., the Riverside County Fire Department issued a mandatory evacuation order for residents north of Granite Hill Drive, east of Edgewood Point, west of Boulder Drive, and south of the water towers. An evacuation warning was also issued for the area north of Granite Hill Drive, east of Boulder Drive, west of Soto Drive, and south of the water towers.

Residents described a chaotic scene as law enforcement officers went door-to-door instructing people to leave immediately, while firefighters set up defensive lines to protect structures.

Road closures were implemented in several parts of the city to keep residents safe and allow emergency crews access to the fire zone. While early reports suggest no fatalities, some residents have reported smoke inhalation, property damage, and the loss of personal belongings.
