LOS ANGELES, CA,08-07-2025 — A violent shooting in Downtown Los Angeles early Monday morning, August 4, 2025, has left two people dead and six others injured in what police are investigating as a possible gang-related incident. The shooting broke out shortly after 1:00 a.m. near 14th Place and Paloma Street. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers responded to multiple reports of gunfire in the area and discovered a chaotic scene spanning several nearby intersections, including 15th & Compton and Grand & Venice. Authorities confirmed that 29-year-old Gregory DeRisso was pronounced dead at the scene. A 52-year-old woman, who had transported herself to a hospital, later succumbed to her injuries. Two other men, ages 34 and 37, were rushed to a hospital in critical condition. Four additional victims, three men, aged 62, 28, and 26, and a 28-year-old woman, were transported by ambulance with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
