[07-30-2024] Fatal Accident in Humble Leaves One Dead, Six Injured

Humble, TX – A tragic two-vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of Atascocita Road and Wilson Road in Humble at approximately 1:00 a.m. on July 30, 2024. The accident resulted in the death of one individual and left six others injured.

Officers from the Humble Police Department responded to the scene, where they discovered a collision involving a family of five, an Uber driver, and a solo occupant of the other vehicle. The male driver, who was the sole occupant of one vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Emergency services, including fire and EMS, were promptly dispatched, and all six surviving individuals—the Uber driver and the family of five—were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Their conditions have not been disclosed at this time.

Initial investigations suggest that the deceased driver, who is believed to have run a red light, caused the accident by striking the Uber vehicle carrying the family. Authorities suspect that the driver was impaired, though this will be confirmed following an examination by the Medical Examiner’s Office.

The intersection remained closed for several hours as investigators worked to reconstruct the scene. Authorities have announced that the roadway is expected to reopen by 5:00 a.m.

Humble Police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. Further details will be released as they become available. Residents are urged to exercise caution when traveling through the area.
