Redlands, CA — July 13, 2026 — A late-night crash on the eastbound Interstate 10 Freeway left a Corvette engulfed in flames and prompted an investigation into whether street racing may have contributed to the incident. At approximately 11:15 p.m., officers with the California Highway Patrol, firefighters from the Redlands Fire Department, and paramedics with American Medical Response (AMR) responded to reports of a crash just east of California Street. Initial reports indicated that one vehicle had left the freeway while another vehicle was burning in the middle lanes. When emergency crews arrived, they found a Corvette fully engulfed in flames. The driver had safely exited the vehicle and was seated on the right shoulder of the freeway. The driver initially told first responders that a passenger had been inside the Corvette. Firefighters and CHP officers immediately searched the nearby embankment using flashlights and thermal imaging cameras to locate the reported passenger. After an extensive search, authorities determined that no passenger had been inside the vehicle and that the driver had been the sole occupant at the time of the crash.
