In the early hours of Tuesday morning, officers from the LAPD Devonshire Division observed a stolen white KIA Soul near Mayall and Oakdale Avenue. When the officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the suspects fled, initiating a high-speed pursuit.
The chase came to an abrupt halt in the vicinity of Mayall and Oakdale, where the suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. The KIA Soul’s ignition had been punched out, confirming the vehicle theft.
Believing the suspects to be contained within a nearby perimeter, possibly in or near a church, officers quickly set up a containment area. The LAPD Devonshire Division requested the assistance of a K-9 unit to aid in the search.
After an extensive search, the K-9 unit successfully apprehended both suspects. Preliminary reports indicate that the suspects are juvenile males. Further details regarding their identities or the circumstances leading to the vehicle theft have not been disclosed.
