On the evening of July 3, 2024, a dramatic high-speed chase began in Black Diamond and concluded in Seattle. The suspect, whose identity has not yet been released, initially stole a vehicle in Black Diamond. Despite being spike-stripped, the suspect continued to evade law enforcement.
The chase intensified as the suspect reached Covington, where they escalated the situation by carjacking another vehicle. Shockingly, this vehicle had an elderly occupant still inside, raising the stakes of the pursuit.
Law enforcement officers followed the suspect onto Interstate 5, where the chase took a dangerous turn. During the pursuit, officers accidentally crashed their patrol vehicles, complicating the efforts to apprehend the suspect.
The chase eventually wrapped up in Seattle, where the suspect caused damage to both a patrol vehicle and the carjacked van. Despite the chaos, the suspect was taken into custody without further incident.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident and are expected to release more details soon. The condition of the elderly carjacking victim is currently unknown.
