11 Injured in Major Pursuit Crash Involving Rideshares in Houston

Houston, TX – In the early morning hours of June 22, 2025, a high-speed police pursuit ended in a violent multi-vehicle crash near the intersection of Waugh Drive and Gray Street, sending eight people to local trauma centers. Around 1:40 a.m., DPS troopers, with assistance from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, were pursuing a young male suspect when he lost control of his vehicle on Waugh. The suspect’s car crossed into oncoming traffic, striking a Ford sedan—an Uber carrying a driver and two passengers—before crashing into a minivan, also operating as a rideshare, with six passengers and a driver onboard. The impact was severe enough to eject the fleeing suspect from his vehicle. Most occupants of the minivan were trapped, requiring firefighters roughly 30 minutes to extricate them. In total, 11 people were involved in the crash, and eight were transported to area trauma centers. All are expected to survive.
