MEAD VALLEY, CA – A fast-moving vegetation fire erupted around 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18, near Rider Street and Seaton Avenue, prompting urgent evacuation orders as flames spread quickly across dry brush in the Mead Valley area. According to reports from fire crews on scene, the blaze initially spanned 10 to 15 acres, fueled by light, flashy fuels and gusty winds, and quickly grew to 50 acres within just over an hour. The fire was described as scurrying eastward, with thick smoke and active flames visible from surrounding neighborhoods. Riverside County Sheriff’s deputies responded quickly, going door to door to evacuate residents in the threatened zones. Air tankers and helicopters were deployed to perform aerial water and retardant drops, supporting ground crews battling the flames.
