Victorville, CA — A tragic collision claimed the lives of two people Sunday afternoon, June 15, in a suspected DUI-related crash involving three vehicles. The incident occurred at 4:53 PM on Green Tree Boulevard, just west of Coad Road and east of Hesperia Road. According to a press release from the Victorville Police Department, a black Cadillac Escalade, driven by Ricardo T. Dawkins, 44, of Adelanto, was traveling westbound when it crossed into oncoming traffic and violently collided with a gray Acura TL heading east. The driver of the Acura, 25-year-old Maria V. Alvarado of Apple Valley, was pronounced dead at the scene. Dawkins was found in critical condition and airlifted to Loma Linda University Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Authorities confirmed that a DUI investigation was initiated at the scene involving Dawkins. A third vehicle was involved in the crash but sustained minor damage, and its occupants were not injured. The Victorville Major Accident Investigation Team responded to the scene and is continuing the investigation. Green Tree Boulevard was closed in both directions for approximately six hours while investigators gathered evidence.
