Long Beach, CA – A devastating traffic collision claimed the life of a 15-year-old boy on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at approximately 2:57 p.m. at the intersection of Carson Street and Palo Verde Avenue. According to the Long Beach Police Department, a 2010 Infiniti G37 was traveling westbound on Carson Street when it ran a red light, colliding with a 2010 Toyota Prius that was lawfully entering the intersection from Palo Verde Avenue. The impact caused the Infiniti to skid, overturn, and strike a pedestrian seated at a nearby bus stop. The 15-year-old pedestrian was transported by Long Beach Fire Department paramedics to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. His identity has not been released due to his age. The driver of the Toyota Prius, a 32-year-old Lakewood resident, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. The driver of the Infiniti was hospitalized in stable condition. Preliminary findings indicate that speed was a factor in the collision.
