A rapidly growing wildfire, dubbed the Ranch Fire, erupted Tuesday afternoon near Bownen Ranch Road and Milpas Road, south of Apple Valley. The blaze, which ignited around 1:45 p.m., has already consumed more than 4,200 acres, making it California’s largest wildfire of the season so far. Fanned by strong 30–40 mph winds, the fire quickly escalated, destroying at least two homes and threatening numerous others in the high desert foothills near the San Bernardino Mountains. Residents have reported significant property damage as firefighters continue their efforts to protect structures under intense wind conditions. Emergency crews remain on scene, working tirelessly to contain the blaze and prevent further destruction. Additional resources have been requested due to the size and volatility of the fire.
