In the early hours of Sunday, June 8, 2025, at approximately 2:00 a.m., an AMPM gas station located at the intersection of Alondra Boulevard and Atlantic Avenue, straddling Compton and Paramount, was the site of a large-scale looting incident involving dozens of individuals. According to reports and on-scene observations, a crowd forcefully entered the store, stealing a wide range of items, including the cash register, lotto scratchers, cases of beer and energy drinks, cigarettes, and snack products such as Twinkies. A store employee, clearly shaken, reportedly pleaded, “You can take everything, just please don’t hurt me,” while helplessly watching the store be stripped of its inventory . Shocking eyewitness accounts noted that some looters began selling stolen items, including cigarettes, outside the gas station, while others distributed beer bottles, which were later thrown at law enforcement officers who were stationed nearby.
