Man Found Shot to Death in Huntington Park Strip Mall Parking Lot

Huntington Park, CA — May 31, 2026 — Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting that left one man dead in a strip mall parking lot late Sunday night in Huntington Park. At approximately midnight, officers with the Huntington Park Police Department responded to reports of gunfire near the intersection of California Avenue and Florence Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds outside of a vehicle in the parking lot. Despite emergency response efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators spent several hours processing the area, marking, and collecting numerous shell casings scattered throughout the parking lot and surrounding area. Detectives are working to determine the circumstances that led to the shooting and whether the victim was specifically targeted. As officers secured the scene, friends and family members gathered nearby, awaiting information and offering support to one another. Due to the nature of the case, authorities requested assistance from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau, which later assumed responsibility for the investigation.
