Long Beach, CA — A tragic multi-vehicle crash involving a Metro train left a 21-year-old Compton woman dead late Friday night in Long Beach, authorities confirmed Saturday. At approximately 11:52 p.m. on May 24, officers with the Long Beach Police Department responded to reports of a major collision in the area of Long Beach Boulevard just south of Anaheim Street. Upon arrival, they discovered a 2014 Infiniti Q50S had collided with a Metro train following a sequence of events involving a second vehicle.According to investigators, the Infiniti, driven by the 21-year-old woman, was speeding southbound on Long Beach Boulevard without headlights activated. As she approached the intersection near Anaheim Street, a 2019 Honda Accord, driven by a 29-year-old male, turned onto Long Beach Boulevard in the same direction. In an attempt to avoid being struck by the rapidly approaching Infiniti, the Accord swerved and crashed into a guardrail. The Infiniti, in turn, swerved as well, lost control, and ultimately collided with an oncoming Metro train. Emergency medical personnel arrived quickly and transported the driver of the Infiniti to a local hospital in critical condition. Despite life-saving efforts, she was later pronounced deceased due to injuries sustained in the crash. The driver of the Honda Accord remained at the scene and cooperated fully with law enforcement. No passengers aboard the Metro train reported injuries. The Long Beach Police Department is actively investigating the crash. Preliminary findings suggest speed and possible impaired driving by the Infiniti’s driver may have contributed to the fatal incident.
