At approximately 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Houston Police Department officers responded to reports of a possible shooting at an apartment complex located at 8034 Antoine Drive. The 911 caller, a wheelchair-bound male resident, claimed to have shot two suspects inside his unit. Upon arrival, officers initiated a tactical response and began clearing the building while working to verify the caller’s claims. During the investigation, officers learned the individual had a documented history of mental health issues. As officers strategized a safe entry, they heard two gunshots from inside the apartment, escalating the urgency of the situation.HPD officers subsequently breached the residence and encountered the caller still armed. Fortunately, the man complied with commands, placed the weapon down, and was taken into custody without further incident. A thorough search of the apartment revealed that no victims were present, and no evidence was found to support the claim of a shooting.The man was evaluated at the scene, and the incident is being treated as a mental health crisis. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether charges will be filed, pending further investigation.
