Armed Suspect Shot and Killed by Police at Oyster Point Marina

An armed suspect was shot and killed by police at the Oyster Point Marina in South San Francisco on the evening of May 14, 2025, following a tense standoff in which the individual refused multiple commands to disarm. At approximately 7:30 p.m., officers responded to an unknown call for service in the marina area. Upon arrival, they encountered a male suspect visibly holding a handgun. Officers immediately issued commands at gunpoint, instructing the suspect to drop the weapon. However, the man refused to comply and began walking away from the officers while still armed. In an attempt to safely subdue the suspect, officers deployed 40mm less-lethal projectiles. The projectiles, however, proved ineffective, as the suspect continued to ignore commands and retained possession of the firearm. As the situation escalated and the suspect failed to de-escalate or relinquish the weapon, officers discharged their service weapons, striking the individual. After the suspect was disarmed, emergency personnel attempted life-saving measures, but he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
