Long Beach, CA – A violent crash late Thursday night on the southbound 405 Freeway at Long Beach Boulevard left one person dead and two others injured, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).The incident occurred at approximately 11:01 p.m. on May 8, 2025, when a silver sedan reportedly lost control and spun out before landing in a ditch off the freeway. CHP units arrived at the scene to find the vehicle severely damaged, with all three occupants trapped and unconscious inside. Long Beach Fire Department crews responded and worked quickly to extricate the victims from the wreckage. Two of the individuals were successfully freed and transported to a local hospital in unknown condition. Tragically, one person, believed to be the vehicle’s passenger, was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Authorities have not yet released the names of those involved, pending notification of next of kin.
