A tragic crash involving a Harley-Davidson motorcycle and a big rig claimed the life of a motorcyclist late Wednesday night on the eastbound 22 Freeway in Garden Grove. The collision occurred just west of Springdale Street at approximately 11:15 p.m. According to the California Highway Patrol, the impact caused the big rig to overturn, spilling a significant amount of gravel across multiple lanes of the freeway. Emergency personnel responded quickly, but the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin. The overturned big rig and gravel debris forced authorities to issue a SIG alert, closing the eastbound lanes of the 22 Freeway for about an hour while crews conducted cleanup and investigators documented the crash.CHP is leading the investigation and has not yet confirmed the sequence of events that led to the deadly collision.
