Authorities are investigating a fatal hit-and-run incident that occurred just after midnight on Sunday, leaving one person dead in the middle of Imperial Highway in Lynwood. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) responded to the scene near the intersection of Imperial Highway and California Avenue at approximately midnight. After arriving, deputies discovered a person lying unresponsive in the roadway. The individual was pronounced dead at the scene. Preliminary information suggests the victim may have been in a crosswalk when they were struck and thrown several feet to where the body was ultimately found. A small object was located near the victim, though its significance is not yet confirmed.
